The SNHEP Mission
Our mission is to empower Hispanics to become viable contributors to the community through employment, education, promotion of cultural awareness, leadership and business development.
Outreach, Recruitment, and Retention
SNHEP develops and conducts skill-based training that includes: leadership development; resume writing; interview techniques; small business opportunities; conflict management; gender communications; inter-generational issues; diversity; civil rights and human resource management.
Supporting Education
SNHEP provides financial assistance to students through scholarships sponsored by the community and business leaders. Award amounts are determined by the SNHEP Scholarship Committee members, who also are responsible for reviewing each scholarship application. Scholarships are presented during the annual training awards luncheon ceremony.
In addition, SNHEP partners with schools that have a high enrollment of Hispanic students to sponsor an after school Career Connections Program. This program introduces life-skills workshops to enhance each student's educational experience and promote higher education in preparation for the workforce.
To share experiences, current, or future employment information, SNHEP maintains a Hispanic Speakers Bureau that is run by a committee of members. SNHEP also actively participates in roundtable discussions with the community and congressional leaders of Southern Nevada to remain current on community-related issues.
